History of Vision for Missions
The work of Vision for Missions began in 1984 when the Oakwood Christian Church and the Lakewood Christian Church sponsored a missions survey trip to the Philippines. During that time, the pastors of Negros Island, and several of the existing churches, were visited. Also, some support began for a few students to attend Bible College and for a new outreach church at Felicia. No Christian Church missionary had previously lived on the island of Negros and in the Ilonggo area. The Island of Negros has two distinct languages and cultures. On the eastern side the Cebuano language is spoken and Ilonggo on the western part of the Island. English is used as the educational language but is known mainly in the metropolitan areas of the Island.
These two churches provided the personal family support for the Paul Wilson family to begin an outreach full-time missions outreach beginning in 1985. Other churches helped for the monthly financial needs of the ministry. After taking some graduate mission classes at Fuller School of World Missions from January through May, they moved to Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines in July of 1985. They had a two-year ministry there before returning to the States. Several churches were started, land purchased and buildings constructed. The Ilonggo language was studied and a beginning understanding of the culture began. The Negros School of Evangelism, a two year Bible College that later became a four year college, also began in 1985 to teach future church leaders.
Vision for Missions continued to support the work on Negros Island after the return of the Wilsons to Oklahoma. During the late eighties, since the Wilsons did not return to the field, the supporting churches lowered the support level. In the nineties the churches gradually increased their monthly support as the ministry of VFM continued to grow and new churches were being started. The Rogers Christian Church began supporting this ministry in 1995 as a third main supporter. Several individuals support monthly the work of VFM and a few churches occasionally send financial help. The Berryville Christian Church began sending support to VFM in 1998. Much of the yearly financial need is by one time gifts and offering for special needs.

Paul Wilson supervises the VFM ministry by mail, telephone, and emails. Every two years a visit is made to Negros of three to five weeks duration to encourage the churches and workers and evaluate the support of the ministry on Negros Island. Every two years Paul tries to report to the elders of the supporting churches and every year meet with the missions committee of each church. In 2000 Vision for Missions became incorporated as a 501-c3 organization.
All financial support given to Vision for Missions goes directly to the work in the Philippines after expenses are paid. The main stateside expenses of VFM are telephone bills, postage, internet fees, printing, travel expenses and buying of books and supplies for the Philippines. Funds are deposited each month at the Arkansas National Bank and directly wired each quarter, or as needed, to a dollar account of the Philippine National Bank. VFM funds are transferred to a Pesos account only when needed by Fe Juplo. Mrs. Juplo is the Vision for Missions bookkeeper in the Philippines, an active member of the Bacolod church and a manager of the PNB bank. She will only disperse funds according to my approved monthly budget and by my email approval. Fe sends a detailed monthly financial report of all income and expenses with an itemization for every Peso. Fe is a blessing of God for the accurate disbursement of VFM funds in the Philippines since 1987.
