WE NEED LAND Presently. Vision for Missions needs to buy land, as the Lord provides, at four existing city church locations. Three of these churches have been started recently in major cities. A fourth church in the city of Bacolod is about ten years old and a permanent place for worship is needed. We need God’s wisdom in which place needs to be helped first among the four churches. How will we raise money for expensive land in the cities? Keep in mind that land in the cities costs about $30 per square meter and are owned by a few very rich people. The salary of most members is usually only $3 dollars a day and living to many is a daily struggle. In the Philippines a few are rich but most are very poor!

LEADERSHIP TRAINING Praise God that a first book is now being translated into the Ilonggo language. Leadership training will be helped with the providing of materials finally in their own language. The present budget does not include the finances for the printing of these materials. If we can find individuals who will sponsor a student in the Bible College for $20 a month, then the money being presently used for the NSE monthly student help can be used for printing of new materials in Ilonggo. Oh how much materials are needed for the local churches, especially for the training of elders in each local church. Also, the leadership training programs will greatly be enhanced when we can have Ilonggo material. We are trying to make available some kind of leadership training program for all the churches of Negros. Presently only about 1/3 of the churches are active in the training of future church leaders. One weakness of the existing churches is the lack of qualified men, we are encouraging the churches to have good elders.

Praise God that College Press has given about 30 boxes of books for the pastors and churches of the Philippines. Starting in January, they will be sending their new unsold Sunday School materials to VFM for the work in the Philippines. We will have quarterly mailing/shipping costs in the future but these materials will be a great asset to the churches who have had little or nothing. Teaching materials is the biggest request that VFM hears from the churches.
